Hearing Aids in Surrey, White Rock, and Vancouver, BC

3 Critical Advantages of  Hearing Aids

If voices are audible but words are hard to follow, choosing hearing aids involves more than increasing volume. Puretone's Registered Audiologists assess your hearing and listening needs, then help you compare Prescription Hearing Aids for the situations you want to improve.

1. Support for conversations in background noise

Modern hearing aids may combine directional microphones, automatic listening adjustments and AI-based sound processing to help separate speech from competing sounds. These features can be useful in restaurants, meetings and family gatherings. Their effect depends on the model, your hearing and the listening environment; no hearing aid removes every difficulty in noise.

2. Connection to calls, television and everyday audio

Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids can stream audio from compatible phones and other devices. Some support hands-free calls, while television and remote-microphone accessories can help in specific situations. We check the hearing aid, your phone and your operating system together before recommending a connection option.

3. Comfort and convenience that suit your routine

Rechargeable Hearing Aids reduce the need to handle disposable batteries. Discreet in-ear and receiver-in-canal styles offer different combinations of size, power, controls and connectivity. Your ear anatomy, hearing levels, dexterity and preferences guide the choice.

As an independent clinic, we compare suitable options across established manufacturers, including Oticon, Phonak and Starkey. We explain the features that matter to you, fit the hearing aids to your prescription, verify their output and provide follow-up adjustments.

Modern Hearing Aid Technology

Independent guidance across hearing aid brands

Your hearing, daily communication needs and preferences guide the recommendation. Puretone is independently owned and Audiologist-led, with options from Oticon, Phonak and Starkey. We can compare suitable technology across brands rather than begin with a single manufacturer.

  • Oticon Reveal and Zeal: compare Dual AI and rechargeable miniRITE technology in Reveal with discreet in-the-ear options such as Zeal.
  • Phonak Infinio Ultra: ask about Sphere AI processing for speech in noise, Bluetooth connectivity and custom rechargeable alternatives.
  • Starkey Omega AI: discuss AI sound processing, supported app features and suitable receiver-in-canal or custom styles, plus newer releases as Canadian options are confirmed.

Compare receiver-in-canal, behind-the-ear and custom in-the-ear styles alongside rechargeable power, handling and phone compatibility. The smallest or newest device is not automatically the right choice. We will explain the options relevant to your hearing and routine.

Hearing aid upgrades and second opinions

Explore our hearing aid upgrade and second-opinion guide for the consultation steps, repair-versus-replacement questions and what to bring.

Are conversations still difficult with your current hearing aids? Or are you considering replacing an older pair? Bring your devices and describe the situations that remain challenging. A review can distinguish maintenance or programming needs from reasons to consider different technology.

Useful questions include: Can a remote microphone help in meetings? Will a new model work with my phone? Is a rechargeable or smaller style suitable? What care, trial and warranty terms are included? Ask for a comparison tied to your hearing, preferences and budget.

New hearing aid technology: what is worth comparing?

Newer hearing aids offer different approaches to speech processing, connectivity and discreet design. Your Audiologist can explain how current Canadian options relate to your needs, rather than choosing by a model name alone.

Oticon Zeal: discreet and rechargeable

Oticon Zeal combines a discreet in-ear design with rechargeable power and AI-based sound processing. It supports Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast broadcasts with compatible equipment. Suitability depends on your hearing, ear anatomy and the connections you need.

Phonak Infinio Ultra Sphere: speech-in-noise processing

Phonak Infinio Ultra Sphere uses a dedicated AI chip and Spheric Speech Clarity 2.0 processing to support speech understanding in noise. Rechargeable power and Bluetooth connectivity are part of the platform. We consider the device's fit, features and compatibility alongside your assessment.

Starkey Omega AI: sound processing and connectivity

Starkey Omega AI includes DNN 360 sound processing and connectivity features such as Auracast support. Available functions depend on the hearing-aid style, technology level and compatible devices. Ask which Canadian models and configurations are appropriate and currently available.

Questions to ask before choosing new hearing aids

Will AI hearing aids remove all background noise?

No. AI-based processing can support speech listening in certain environments, but it cannot guarantee clear understanding everywhere. Your hearing, room acoustics, distance from the speaker and fitting all matter. A remote microphone may be useful when distance or noise remains difficult.

Will my hearing aids work with my phone?

Compatibility varies. Bring your phone so we can check the exact model and operating system, discuss streaming and hands-free options, and identify any accessory you may need. Auracast also requires a compatible broadcast and receiving setup.

Are small hearing aids invisible or waterproof?

Visibility depends on your ear and the style selected. Moisture resistance also varies by model. An IP rating is not a general invitation to swim or shower with hearing aids; follow the manufacturer's care instructions.

Receiver-In-the-canal (RIC)

A small device behind the ear connects to a receiver in the ear canal. Many models offer rechargeable power and Bluetooth. Your Audiologist will compare fit, features and prescription needs.

Invisible-in-canal (IIC)

A discreet style fitted deep in the ear canal. Suitability and visibility depend on your hearing and ear anatomy. Small size can limit power, connectivity and controls.

In-the-Canal (ITC)

A custom style shaped to fit partly in the ear canal. Available controls, microphones, Bluetooth and rechargeable options depend on the model and the space available in your ear.

In-the-Ear (ITE)

A custom shell that sits in the outer ear. Its larger size may make handling easier. Controls, battery type and wireless features vary; your Audiologist will discuss suitable options.

Behind-the-Ear (BTE)

Worn behind the ear with tubing to an earmould or earpiece. Available in different power levels, including options for greater hearing loss. Features and charging vary by model.

Wireless Connectivity & Streaming

Stream calls, music and other audio from compatible devices. Phone support, hands-free calling and accessories vary by model. Bring your phone so we can check compatibility.
